Important notice from the Dennis Department of Natural Resources:
As of sunrise, Monday, October 10, 2016. All shellfish beds in the Town of Dennis south of Cape Cod (including Bass River & Swan River) as well as the waters of Nantucket Sound will be closed for all species of shellfish with the exception of bay and sea scallop adductor muscles and carnivorous snails due to potential high levels of Domoic Acid in the water. Domoic Acid is a natural occurring toxin produced by certain types of algae, which can be harmful or even fatal to humans if contaminated shellfish is consumed.
