Town of Dennis – Community Development Block Grants
On Thursday July 20th Governor Charlie Baker, Lieutenant Governor Karyn Polito, Housing and Economic Development Secretary Jay Ash, and Housing and Community Undersecretary Chrystal Kornegay awarded 39 Community Development Block Grants, totaling $30.5 million.
The Town of Dennis was awarded $825,000, the maximum award for a single community. These funds will rehabilitate 15 homes providing 0% interest deferred payment forgivable loans. The funds will also assist low to moderate income families pay for childcare, allowing parents to work and go to school knowing that their children are safe and well-cared for.
Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) help cities and towns respond to specific housing, community, and economic development projects that support low- and moderate-income residents, or revitalize underserved areas.
Massachusetts’ Community Development Block Grant Program is a federally funded, competitive grant program designed to help small cities and towns meet a broad range of community development needs. Assistance is provided to qualifying cities and towns for housing, community, and economic development projects that assist low and moderate-income residents, or by revitalizing blighted areas.
