AN EDUCATION AND DISCUSSION SERIES
Sponsored by the Dennis Board of Selectmen in partnership with the Dennis Municipal Affordable Housing Trust
Access to housing that is affordable and attainable for working people and those on a fixed income is an issue on Cape Cod, including Dennis. This educational series will provide information from professionals in the housing field and provide a forum for public discussion for the citizens of Dennis. We believe the more the discussions are based on facts, the more effectively and cooperatively Dennis can address this vital issue.

Cape Cod Commission Housing Report – Review

There are Cape Cod Commission reports that provide an analysis of housing across the Cape. It also provides specific demographic information about each town. The Dennis data provides a profile of the current housing situation and projects into 2025 what the housing situation will be if the current trends continue as it pertains to our Town.

Overview – State Affordable Housing Statute Chapter 40B

Massachusetts Statute Chapter 40B was designed to bring affordable housing to cities and towns across the State. It is often controversial and misunderstood. This session will provide the background on the reasons behind the creation of the statute. It will review the process and explain the role of the developer, the towns, and citizens. Understanding Accessory Dwelling Units and the Proposed By-Law Change

Dennis is considering changes to the current Accessory Dwelling Unit By-Law that would create standards and remove some restrictions, making it easier for homeowners to build and rent in-law apartments to the workforce or family members.~~This session will look at the rationale and potential benefits of this change.
