Administrative Support Bureau

The ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPORT SERVICES BUREAU is under the command of a Lieutenant who is the department’s Training Coordinator for all Recruit, In-service and Specialized Training.

Additional administrative duties include acting as the municipal coordinator for the 9-1-1 system; supervising facility and fleet maintenance; property (lost/found) and evidence control; and criminal identification records.

The operation of the CENTRAL RECORDS OFFICE including the crime reporting and analysis functions are also under his command.

Two full-time civilian personnel are currently assigned to this section – one police data clerk and a craft maintenance custodian. Five patrol officers perform support service functions in addition to their regular patrol duties.

POLICE CRIME & ACCIDENT RECORDS that may be needed for insurance purposes as well as access to public information from the department’s daily log can be obtained through the records office during regular business hours.

FEE STRUCTURE FOR COPY OF POLICE RECORDS
Copy fees for copies of public records in the custody of the police department are established by state law (MGL 66-10).

Certain records may require a review by the office supervisor to determine if the record or a segregable portion thereof is exempted from disclosure under the public records law.  In such case the record may not be available for immediate release.

The department generally has ten (10) days to comply with or deny a request for inspection or copy of a public record:
