DENNIS-YARMOUTH REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Town of Dennis is a member of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District with the high school and middle school located in the Town of Yarmouth. In addition to the high school and middle school there are four elementary schools, two in Dennis and two in Yarmouth. The district is governed by a seven member elected school committee of which three are chosen by the voters of Dennis. The district educates more than 3100 students.
The Dennis Police Department provides a School Resource Officer (SRO) to the district. The SRO provides police services to any and all schools in the district. The Dennis SRO works collaboratively with the Yarmouth police SRO’s. The SRO is also a member of the Cape and Islands Regional School Resource Officer Network and meets regularly with other SRO’s from the Cape and Islands.
The School Resource Officer is also a member of Project Alliance. Project alliance is a collaborative effort of the Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District, Dennis and Yarmouth Police Departments, Cape & Island District Attorney’s Office, Barnstable County Sheriffs Office, Barnstable and Orleans Juvenile Court Probation Departments to meet on a monthly basis to work together by sharing information and ideas on how to make our schools a safer place in which our children can learn.
The Dennis SRO is Detective Pat McCaffrey. Detective McCaffrey is a resident of the Town of Dennis and the father of three sons who are DY-Dolphins. He is actively involved in youth sports and very accessible to parents and students. Detective McCaffrey is also the department's Juvenile Detective and invistigates all cases involving children.
