Open Burning Season 2006 - January 15 to April 30

Permission for open burning will be given on a daily basis. Decision to grant open Burning will be made at 9 AM depending on weather conditions. Call 508-394-1292 after 9 AM and before 12 Noon and leave permit number on answering machine.

Permits numbers from last year are valid. Use the same number. If you do not have a permit, obtain one in person at Fire Headquarters or Station 2.

      Permit is issued by State Statute Authority granted by the Dennis Fire Department and may be revoked at any time.

      Valid permit must be issued by the Department prior to burning.

      Burning time is from 10 AM to 4 PM. Fire must be out at 4 PM

      Burning can only be conducted during periods of good atmospheric ventilation.

      Burning can not cause a nuisance. Complaints will be investigated.

      Do not use gasoline or tires to start fires.

      Open Burning shall be conducted:

o       On land proximate to generation

o       At least 75 feet from a structure

o       At least 100 feet from waterway.

      NO Burning of the following is allowed:

o       GRASS, LEAVES, HAY, STUMPS

o       Any brush or material from commercial/industrial land clearing.

o       NO commercial burning of any type.

           Permit holder must be present at site at all times

      Fire must be extinguished:

o       If nuisance complaint received

o       Ordered to do so  by Public Safety Official

o       Being conducted illegally

o       Excessive or increasing winds.
