Senior Work Program applications will be available starting September 8th in the Assistant Town Administrator’s Office.  The new work year begins on October 1st.

Friends of Dennis Seniors - Are housed in Dennis Senior Center. The Friends built the building and gave it to the Town of Dennis. The Friends have a variety of trips. (For trip information call Nancy at 508-385-5376.)

Dennis Council on Aging Board - Has twelve members and two Ex-Officios who advise and help the Dennis Senior Center and Seniors of Dennis.

The Friends of Dennis Senior Citizens is organized exclusively for charitable purposes. Such purposes include the promotion, establishment and support of activities and facilities for the benefit and advancement of the general welfare and quality of life of senior citizens in the town of Dennis, Massachusetts, and the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Friends organization was started in 1979 by a group of dedicated citizens committed to provide a center in the town for senior activities. The Dennis Senior Center was constructed through numerous private donations and the completed building was given to the town in 1984. The Center is located at the intersection of Route 134 and Setucket Road in South Dennis. The affairs of the organization are managed by its Board of Directors.

Funds raised by members' dues, donations, and by fund-raising activities sponsored by the Friends are used to provide services for Dennis senior citizens.

The Friends operate an office at the Dennis Senior Center that is staffed every weekday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Nancy Lovendale, office manager, who is available to senior citizens to provide assistance in making trip reservations.

Each month The Cranberry Scoop contains a section devoted to the Friends. Persons may receive "The Cranberry Scoop" by mail by becoming members of the Friends of Dennis Senior Citizens.

Activities sponsored by the Friends

-  Travel destinations, day and overnight trips, as well as cruises.

-  See The Cranberry Scoop for current offerings, or call Nancy at 508-385-5376 for information and assistance in making reservations.

-  Golf Tournaments in June at Dennis Highlands and in September at Dennis Pines. Call 508-385-5376 for information."

-  December distribution of holiday gift bags to seniors who are alone.

Membership in the Friends of Dennis Senior Citizens

Anyone desiring to become a member is invited to pay annual dues of $7.00 per person, $14.00 per couple. Life memberships are $75.00 per person. Donations in any amount are welcome and will be used to provide interest income for the operation of the organization. Donations to the Friends of Dennis Senior Citizens in any amount are tax deductible.

The Dennis Council on Aging's primary mission is to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens of the Town of Dennis by providing multi-purpose programs especially designed to fulfill the health, educational, recreational, outreach and transportation needs of our most valued citizens in a safe, friendly and comfortable environment.
