Please enjoy our pristine waterways and remember all children 12 and under must wear Personal Floatation Device (P.F.D.) when they are in the boat.

Riding on the bow unless in a bow rider is extremely dangerous, and not allowed without proper railings, don't let a pleasurable day turn into a tragedy.

No wake means no wake. Boats should traverse at only steerage speed.

Please enjoy our natural beauty and dispose of your trash properly.

Have a safe boating season.

Thank you,

Terry Clen

Master Captain U.S.C.G.

Where can I go fast in Bass River?

Two places in the river;

1. “The Speed Zone.” Located between Aunt Juliann’s’ Landing and the High Bank Bridge. The zone is marked at each end with a “NO WAKE” buoy.

2. At the very north end of Bass River, in Follins Pond.

The rest of Bass River is “NO WAKE”

How do I reach the Harbormaster Department on the VHF radio?

The Dennis Harbormaster Department listens to many different channels. The best way is to hail for us on channel 66. Please speak clearly and slowly. If for some chance we don’t answer, try again. During the season, the radios are very busy, you may have been stepped on by another. If it is an emergency, and you can’t reach us on channel 66, try channel 16. If you still can’t reach us either call for the Coast Guard or call via cell phone the Dennis Police at 911. If you are on Bass River, call us by “Dennis Patrol”.

What do I do if I have received a citation?

If you have received a citation you have two choices. First, you may pay the fine. Simply follow the instructions. Remember, you only have 21 days. Second, you may request a hearing. Hearings are held at the Orleans District Court. Remember, you have 21days. If no payment or request for hearing is received within 21 days, there will be a criminal complaint filled against you. If is marked as a warning, you do nothing.

Will this citation go against my record?

No. Whether it is a Massachusetts General Law violation or a Town By-Law, they are both non-criminal
