- Dennis Town Administrator Elizabeth C. Sullivan Credentialed by International Local Government Management Organization 

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Elizabeth C. Sullivan, Town Administrator of Dennis, MA recently received the Credentialed Manager designation from ICMA, the International City/County Management Association.  Ms. Sullivan is one of only of 36 people in Massachusetts to become a credentialed manager.  There are 1,429 local government management professionals currently credentialed through the ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program around the world. 

To receive the prestigious ICMA credential, a member must have significant experience as a senior management executive in local government; have earned a degree, preferably in public administration or a related field; and demonstrated a commitment to high standards of integrity and to lifelong learning and professional development. 

“To be a recipient of this designation is rare, as the ICMA selection process is very competitive, as evidenced by the few town managers/administrators who possess this credential on Cape Cod.” said Dennis Select Board Chairman, Chris Flanagan.  “I am not at all surprised that Liz received this designation, given her strong beliefs in public service, ethics, and her strong record of not only achieving goals, but excelling at her job.  My fellow colleagues on the Select Board, as well as the residents of the town of Dennis, join me in congratulating her in this milestone of her career and we are incredibly grateful for her service and leadership in the town of Dennis and across the Commonwealth.”      

Elizabeth has 20 years of professional local government and executive experience. She’s a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and holds a master’s degree in public administration from Suffolk University.  Prior to her appointment in 2016 as Town Administrator of Dennis, she served as the Assistant Town Administrator.  Prior to Dennis, she worked in the Town of Plymouth for nearly a decade in various roles including; Special Assistant to the Town Manager of Plymouth and as Plymouth’s Conservation Planner. Elizabeth began her career in public service as Natural Resource Officer in the Town of Falmouth in 2002. 

Elizabeth has been a recognized member of the International City Managers Association (ICMA) since 2015.  Ms. Sullivan has also made significant contributions to a number of other organizations, including: serving as a member of the Executive Committee of the Massachusetts Municipal Management Association, Massachusetts Chapter of Women Leading Government Committee, Massachusetts Municipal Ethics Committee, and Chair of the Massachusetts Managers Legal Assistance Fund Committee.  Professional affiliations also include member of the Massachusetts Municipal Managers Association and the Cape Managers Association.
