Beginning in 1996, an officer has been assigned the duties of the (FSO) Family Service Officer. This officer works with each member of the Department and the Victim Services Coordinator to provide oversight and follow-up on domestic investigations and incidents impacting the elderly and the disabled.
The Family Service Officer will also utilize the services of the Detective Division, Crime Prevention Unit and Victim Service Coordinator as well as other agencies in providing services to the domestic, elderly or disabled victim(s).
The Family Service Officer also conducts in-service training of department personnel in procedures used in mandatory reporting of elder and disabled abuse or neglect. In conjunction with the Crime Prevention Unit he reviews, develops and distributes literature concerning domestic violence, restraining orders and the abuse, neglect and/or exploitation of the elderly and disabled.
