Weir Creek Salt Marsh Restoration Project
The Town of Dennis is working with the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC) on the restoration of the Weir Creek Salt Marshin West Dennis. APCC has received three grants from the Southeast New England Program (SNEP), the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The SNEP and NFWF grants will fund the design of the roadway and culvert improvements and model the effects both have on the salt marsh restoration. The NOAA grant will fund the final design and construction of the project.
Three public information meetings have been held to-date to provide project information, the first on June 15, 2023 the second on March 28, 2024 and most recently on August 20, 2025. The links to the presentations and slideshows are provided below. As part of the August presentation, an Interactive GIS Web Viewer was presented and is now available for public viewing. This viewer explains more about the project and the improvements that the marsh will see with the restoration.
Additional meetings will be held as the permitting process proceeds toward construction. You can find additional project information, sign up to receive email updates and see the project timeline on the APCC site.
