Route 28 West Dennis Corridor Project

The Town of Dennis is currently working with MassDOT to upgrade the Route 28 Corridor in West Dennis.  The project extends from the Bass River Bridge to just east of Old Main Street.  The roadway will be upgraded with sidewalks, bicycle lanes and a shared-use path.  Improvements in the West Dennis Village area will be similar to those made in Dennisport including brick sidewalks, landscaping, decorative lighting and other amenities such as benches and bicycle racks.

The 25% design plans were submitted to MassDOT for review on December 9, 2024 and DESIGN PUBLIC HEARING was conducted on November 13, 2025 to present the concept and receive input from the public.

The construction is totally funded through the State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) and construction is scheduled for the 2028/2029 time frame.

Engineering, through the Dennis Chamber of Commerce, has held two Public Information Meeting on June 26, 2023 and another April 25, 2024.  Both meetings were held at the Bass River Marina.  Meeting information can be found on the links below.
